Tuesdays with Tarinae 1/14

I went back to look at how wonderful my blog was when I started Tuesday with Tarinae at A Healadin's Tear and I realized something. Everything about Tarinae is perfect. I rolled her in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade and I never once thought about rerolling her (seriously a feat for me!). When I through together my blog after applying to write for WoW Insider, A Healadin's Tear was perfect. I redesigned the color scheme a lot but still perfect. Maybe I am only allowed to have that perfection once?

Speaking of WoW...

A couple months ago Lead Systems Developer for WoW, Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street left his posistion with Blizzard for another opportunity. It was a shock and quite a heartbreaking moment for all of GC's fans on the day he said So Long... but it appears he has resurfaced. Gaming sites across the web report that Greg has joined Riot Games (producers of League of Legends) as Lead Game Developer.

I imagine the pace is quite different but as I have recently started playing League of Legends I couldn't be more happy to hear this news. I know that any game that has GC on their side is headed in the right direction.

I would love to get him on the podcast! I could talk to this man for hours. He is also quite handsome. #fangirl

Desolation of Smaug Trailer

Warner Brothers released the official movie trailer for the second Hobbit film. This comes after a teaser trailer this summer and the movie is due to release on December 13. My first reaction to this trailer is that the proportions look tremendously better than in the first movie. A hobbit is tiny and dwarves are short; those are not facts you saw in the sizing of The Legendary Journey.

Matt Smith Musical

The 11th Doctor has been actively engaging in other roles and preparing himself to continue his career once his stint as The Doctor has come to an end. After shaving his head and ripping out, he had debuted his new look for the Ryan Gosling film, How to Catch a Monster, earlier this year. Now he accepted a role in a musical production of Ameican Psycho; he is taking on the role as Patrick Batemen who was played by Christian Bale in the 2000 cinematic version.

Ender's Game Clip

Summit Entertainment has released a full 40 second clip from Ender's Game that releases in Novemeber. The clip is Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield during the scene where Colonel Graff assigns Ender to lead the Dragon Army.

Professor X

I found this really amazing fan art of Professor Xavier from Marvel's X-Men! It was done by artist Mark Kelly!

Netflix for eBooks?

I found this write up of the new program/app called Oyster. This program will provide eBooks for reading just as Netflix supplies movies for a flat monthly rate. This program is backed by several large publishers including HarperCollins and Algonquin. It is also only intended to be an iOS program, sorry android? I can say that while this is awesome, you should still check your local library for downloadable eBooks. Lexington has over 8000 titles to offer.

Upside Down Movie Trailer

Apparently this has been out for a while but I juts came across this while watching the previews for What Maisie Knew. This looks awesomely trippy and from a youtube commenter, "Kirsten Dunst really loves upside down kissing, doesn't she?"

Allegiant Teaser

The conclusion to Veronica Roth's best-selling trilogy, Allegiant (Divergent #3), releases October 22. This teaser was recently provided, check it out and read these books if you haven't!

Releasing last week was an e-Book novella, The Transfer: A Divergent Story!

Batfleck

The word is in that Ben Affleck has been cast as the new Batman due to make the appearance against Henry Caville in the second Man of Steel movie. This has caused quite the uproar in the geek community and there has been a lot of flack (See what I did there!) thrown towards the actor/director.

I wasn't against the idea that Christian Bale could have done the role of the caped crusader but I don't think I was prepared for this (though I love Affleck in romance!) and neither was the rest of the world, in fact there is a peteition with change.org that has over 77,000 sigs to rename someone else. Rumor has it Ben Affleck has been signed for multiple movies should "sequels continue to proliferate". What are you thoughts?

Just remember the boy from the dorky knight story turned out to be the best Joker the universe had seen.

Divergent Trailer

I love this book, if you haven't read it pick it up. Choose your faction, change your life, watch this trailer.

World of Warcraft TCG

The word as of August 23 is that Blizzard has pulled their license with Cryptozoic Entertainment that puts out the World of Warcraft Training Card Game. Here is Lexington this is pretty popular Magic-Style TCG. There are region tournaments and battlegrounds. This comes as a major blow to the community. No more new blocks, no new merchandising but if you are due to run a tournament you are on your own but you are still responsible for following Blizzard's rules.

This news comes shortly after their F2P Online CCG, Hearthstone, just entered the beta testing. It was suggested that the two games would not interfere with one another but it seems that is no longer the case as Blizzard has bought themselves out of the contract and does not plan to renew the license with any other company. Now is the time where I rush to stock with cards for my own decks, my art project, and loot cards.

Trailer Mania

There were several trailers that released this week (or that I stumbled upon perhaps) and they absolutely blew my mind. This one is the movie trailer for the book-to-movie adaption of Richelle Meade's Vampire Academy.

I have never read this series, I chose to read Twilight instead and my Young Adult vampire fetish went no further. But these books are bestsellers and this trailer looks to be pretty action packed and little on that sexy side.

Cinema Feature: City of Bones

August 2013 | Cinema Feature

August 21, 2013 | IMDB

The hit of the fall is coming soon The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. This is a book to movie adaptation of the first book in the Cassandra Clare series The Mortal Instruments. Honestly, if you have never read these book and can appreciate anything Young Adult and/or Paranormal then you are seriously missing out.

These books were some of the first things that I read coming out of college and I was instantly enamored with them. Cassandra Clare has created such an intricate story with twists and turns the likes of which I had never encountered. The fact that Hollywood has decided to make one my favorites into a movie has me on the excited side to say the least.

I fashion that I will be sporting rune tattoos and buttons on opening weekend; a journey that will lead me to the cinemas with long time friend Natasha from Kentucky Geek Girl. This movie is about Clary Fray who finds herself wrapped up in a world of Shadowhunters. Shadowhunters are demon fighters whose blood has been touched and blessed by the angel Raziel. This journey takes us across worlds of reality and the hidden where the vampires and the villains lurk but you are never sure who is what or who to trust.

Check out the trailer and be sure to stay tuned after its opening weekend for a review!

Did I mention that this stars Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), James Moriarty (Jared Harris), and King Henry VII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers)? Oh, well it does! They appear alongside the stars of the film Lily Collins & Jamie Campbell Bower!

Sherlock Series 3 Teaser Trailer

If you have not given in to the tempation that is BBC Sherlock, do so now. It is on Netflix, check your library, do whatever it is you must do to watch this. It is witty, it is intelligent, it is Benedict Cumberbatch. Each series is only 3 1.5 hour episodes and they will leaving in tantalizing agony for more. Thoughts on this trailer: Is that Watson...with a mustache?

10 vs Mr. Dude

I saw this image of David Tennant as 10 and I just cannot force myself to believe in coincendence. I mean I kind of have to given the Recess came first by 6+ years, but I still have the sha of doubt inside. Look at that hair!

BBC Broke My Dreams

With the announcement of 12, my list of hopefuls fell hopelessly by the wayside. These are the top three picks that I was rooting for only to have my dreams shattered

Damien Lewis turned out to be my first choice. Born in London, Damien is a little known actor starring in the film Stephen King's Dreamcatcher and episodes of Homeland as Nicholas Brody. He has great hair (ginger if you didn't notice), great "shiny" off the wall attitude, and serious aptitude.

Andy Serkis has the "funny" look about him that they said they were hoping to get back to. He has well known characters but he himself is not so well known, he is Gollum. A great choice that was seconded by Jaedia on Twitter!

And we all know Rupert Grint. To be honest, I would have been okay with any of the HP cast but when it comes right down to it...

I wanted The Doctor to be a ginger.

Tuesdays with Tarinae 7/30

Many of you know I have been a blogger for a long time. Many of you also know that my online identity is Tarinae, adopted from my main in World of Warcraft. What you may not know is that when I was doing my WoW blog, I ran a feature every Tuesday full of small tidbits that were share-worthy but not post dedicated worthy: Tuesdays with Tarinae.

I figure I am still most definitely identifiable as Tarinae and Tuesdays still most definitely exist...this just made sense.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock

If you enjoy foreign films/cartoons and can appreciate beautiful CGI in the way of Final Fantasy, this is absolutely brilliant. It looks fantastic and it is pirates....in space. Many thanks to Nevik for this nugget.

Doctor Who S7.1 E1

I just started watching Doctor Who Season 7 and I was hooked. I was extremely confused in the beginning and had to double check I remembered where we left off correctly but I was hooked. If this first episode is any indication, this season will highlight The Doctor with true heroism! If you have seen Season 7 we will have to chat about this when I am finished.

FandomFest = FailFest?

This past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky a large con, FandomFest, was held. The guest list at this show was highlighted with Jack Barrowman and I had even considered going. I am glad that I did not. There was a major outcry against this convention and its mismanagement and a lot of fans went home more than empty-handed. There were shattered dreams, broken hearts, heated heads, and empty wallets. Check out some of these event wrap-ups.

Comic Con News Blitz & Trailers

This year made people who attended Comic Con in San Diego the envy of most every geek. There were so many things debuted and released this year that it just makes the happy come to life. It also raised a new question on whether SDCC or Blizzcon should be my big con goal. Here is a small wrap up of the biggest announcements that made my day.
---------------------------------

Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan, Amy Pond in Doctor Who, was cast as Nebula in Marvel's Gaurdians of the Galaxy. The movie caused quite a stir being a bit on the unknown side but Gillan goes all out for the role.

Legend of Korra Season 2 Preview

This was so awesome and so well done that I had to take a break the moment I saw it to tell you guys about it. Check out the trailer and recommendation for this series in my earlier coverage!

Catching Fire

This definitely looks like it is set to be a fantastic movie. Having read the first two books, I thought The Hunger Games was pretty spot on and was extremely well done. This trailer glimpses that they have taken the book even further and made it into a spectacle that is more than worth seeing! Bravo! Come on November!!

Man of Steel 2

It was confirmed over the weekend that in the next Superman movie, the Man of Steel will meet the Dark Knight. This was a huge reveal that stirs up a lot of questions. Normally it is a bad guy good guy scenario but now we had goodie vs. goodie. What could have happened to pit them against one another? I wasn't going to post the video but it gave me goose bumps to watch the unveiling, so here it is!

Wrap Up Movie News

Other noteworthy news is Marvel Avengers: Avengers of Ultron was announced. And the World of Warcraft movie was confirmed. As it turns out Sam Raimi has left the project and casting is set to start with production in 2014. The movie is just titled Warcraft. Apparently, there was a mood piece shown at the convention but it is not expected to be released.

What were your favorite pieces of SDCC news?

Comic Con Debut: Legend of Korra Book 2

Book 2: Spirits

At the 2013 SDCC Nickelodeon released a preview of Season 2 for Avatar: The Legend of Korra. If you are an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan and have not watched this show, I strongly encourage you to fix that! The first season of LoK was amazing. Set in a post-Aang world, we are introduced to machines and steampunkiness; we are also set into what is being set up as a war between the benders and the non-benders with Korra and Aman, the villain, at the center.

This preview has no dialogue and it season one spoiler free. Check it out!
